CNC Machinist - Bournedrill

A fantastic opportunity exists for enthusiastic CNC Machinist to join our Australian Bournedrill team. If you’re ready for an adventure and new scenery, this could be the role for you.  

We’re expanding quickly, and we need great people to join our team. Bournedrill is part of the recently-formed OptionX Group, a group of companies dedicated to serving the infrastructure/mining industries. Being part of this group means there are great opportunities to advance your career and work on diverse projects. The other businesses within the group send a steady flow of work to Bournedrill, which is contributing to our need to expand.  

We provide a wide range of specialist products and services for the exploration and drilling industry and general engineering services for a broad range of industries. We manufacture all types of drilling rigs, and offer our clients a comprehensive post-sale product support system. Our engineering team supplies all aspects of works from manual and CNC machining to fabrication and welding expertise. 

Bournedrill’s workshop in Archerfield, Brisbane’s western suburbs in sunny Queensland is just a short drive to the city centre. The lifestyle Queensland offers is well known, but if you need reminding, we’re talking sunshine, friendly people and some of the world’s best beaches within easy driving distance.  

Of course, along with the lifestyle, there’s also the work to be done. The hands-on role will require the successful candidates to work inclusively within the team ensuring quality and efficiency of scheduled work to meet clients' deadlines.  

We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator to run a variety of CNC machines. This position offers a great variety of work. The applicant must be a trade qualified CNC Operator. 

As a machinist, your everyday responsibilities will include:  

  • Setting and operating CNC lathes and mills to shape and form metal stock to fine tolerances  
  • MUST be able to interpret engineering drawings  
  • Ability to read and understand CNC programs (ISO based) 

 

In addition, the right candidate will be required to:  

  • Focus on quality and efficiency  
  • Possess Certificate III/IV in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent apprenticeship.  
  • Be able to perform in a team environment and also work autonomously  
  • Have a strong focus on workplace safety and quality  
  • Maintain QA and production records as appropriate  
  • Be involved in ongoing improvements and learning  
  • Have driver's license and own transport 

Experience in the following areas is highly desirable.  

  • Currently working as a CNC Operator 
  • Be able to read and work in metric and imperial  
  • Sound fault finding history  
  • Strong commitment of support to the fitting team.  
  • Promote a health and safety culture within the team.

This is a full-time position offering a generous salary between $59,000 - $75,000 plus superannuation to the right candidate (depending on experience).

Microtunneller/Driller - Edge Underground

A fantastic opportunity exists for enthusiastic microtunnelling drillers to join our Australian Edge Underground team. If you’re ready for an adventure and new scenery, this could be the role for you. 

Edge Underground is the contractor of choice for the installation of sewer and water pipelines across Australia. Our founder is also the inventor of the Vermeer AXIS guided boring system. We have extensive experience on a variety of domestic pipeline installation projects. We are known not only for our countless successful high precision sewer and water installations, but also as a technological innovator with a passion for success. We specialise in the installation of high accuracy utility services using installation techniques including microtunnelling, laser boring, auger boring and thrust boring. 

We have positions available in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, with interstate work always a possibility. Move to Australia and see more of it on us, with secured employment and income.

The following experience and traits are highly desirable: 

  • Experience with Vermeer AXIS machine 
  • Previous experience operating microtunnelling equipment 
  • A can-do attitude and work well as a team 
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a tightly functioning team 
  • A commitment to work with our customers as well as your team 
  • Tickets such as White Card, CV & DG tickets, Confined Space, Working at Heights and HC Truck Licence
